Children enjoy a yacht when the days are short, the water calm and swims frequent. Above all, every child needs a life jacket of their own size and clear deck rules from day one.
1. Safety on deck
1Tell us the children’s ages and weights when you book: life jackets go by weight, and children’s sizes are not always aboard.
2On deck while under way, a child always wears a life jacket; in the cockpit it stays on while the yacht is moving.
3Arrange a safety net along the guardrails for small children with the base in advance.
2. A route that suits children
Two to three hours under way a day are enough. The Pašman and Zadar channels are sheltered from the open sea; see Pašman and Ugljan in 7 days.
- A village with a shop or ice cream every other day.
- A night in a marina mid-week: showers, power and space ashore to run around.
- A mask and snorkel for every child; fish are easiest to see along the rocks.
3. Sun, water and seasickness
4From 11:00 to 16:00 children stay in the shade of the bimini, in a UV shirt and a hat.
5Sail in the morning, before the maestral: the sea is calmer and seasickness rarer.
6A seasick child is helped by looking at the horizon and staying in the fresh air, not in the cabin.

Frequently asked questions
From what age can children come aboard?
There is no minimum age; for babies and toddlers, a life jacket that fits and a net along the guardrails are what matter. Tell us the age when you book.
Catamaran or monohull for a family?
A catamaran heels less and has more deck space, so families often choose one. See Catamaran or monohull.
Where is a doctor if we need one?
The larger towns on the routes (Biograd, Zadar, Šibenik) have a medical practice; in an emergency call 112 or VHF channel 16, and the base on +385 99 433 5505.
